Sometimes as scientists we get the chance to give seminars in truly breathtaking locations. I was invited to talk about my research on biomechanics and physiology of fish locomotion at the ENEA Centre for Marine Research in Santa Teresa, La Spezia, Italy. The center is situated in the Gulf of Poets, in the Mediterranean Sea, and researchers quantify the local consequences of global anthropogenic stressors on marine systems. During the tour of the facility I was shown the panoramic terrace on the Gulf. Needless to say, the lab will be back for collaborative work on biomechanics and physiology of locomotion using local marine fishes! Stay tuned!
